For DraculaCons we basically just round up many of our hotel guests and friends in the Gothic realm and ask them if they’d speak or perform for our humble event.  We’ve held four of these so far,one each year each Spring.  They are open to the public.  Some have lasted 14 hours.  Each year they are different, always surrounding the theme of the vampire and Dracula.  They tend to celebrate the earlier vampire films and works.  We’ve had everything from Adam Blai speaking on the Church and exorcism and dangers of the paranormal to carnival mystics laying on a bed of nails and go go girls dancing in wacky cages.  We’ll keep doing these as long as they are fun.  No date has been set yet for a possible Dracula V…

Past DraculaCons included celebrity guests Butch Patrick (AKA Eddie Munster from The Munsters) and Kyra Schon from Night of the Living Dead, musicians Damien Youth, The Cadillac Creeps, Devilz in the Detailz, and David J from the seminal goth band Bauhaus, authors Rosemary Ellen Guiley (Vampires Among Us and The Encyclopedia of Demons & Demonology), Katherine Ramsland (Piercing the Darkness: Undercover with Vampires in America Today and Prism of the Night: The Biography of Anne Rice), Elaine Bergstrom (Mina: The Dracula Story Continues and Leanna: possession of a Woman), Catherine Cox (The Judaic Other in Dante, The Gawain Poet, and Chaucer), burlesque dancers like the BridgeCity Bombshells, sideshow performers like Kabarett Vulgare, and classical musicians like Devil Music Ensemble gloriously performing live to the 1922 silent classic film Nosferatu in Windber’s beautiful Arcadia Theater.
