Oh, I didn’t expect anyone.  You’re hear for the church?

The American Renaissance Church towers at Graham Avenue & 10th Street, a few blocks walk from the Grand Midway Hotel.  We started restoring it last year.  The building is beautiful inside and was well worth saving.  One goal will be to decorate it with great works of mystical art.  The first is the massive da Vince’ Christ mural being painted by local artist Terence Kauffman.

So, the Midway has expanded into a campus, with other buildings just up the street in both directions.  This includes the American Renaissance Church.

The ARC houses the incredible Anne Rice Doll Collection Museum, which can be viewed as part of the hotel overnight stays tour if you like.

Out back is our cemetery.  It’s well worth a visit, boasting actual tombstones for Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, Lord Byron, Oscar Wilde, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and several other beloved characters…  The church graveyard is open to the public and makes for great photo opps.

We also host the annual DraculaCon Halloween Ball here in our church, which also serves as a fundraiser for the local fire department.  This event fills up, so tickets will be offered for sale at the door but also right now for pre-sale.  Send $15 with note “for DraculaCon” and your name to our Paypal which is Empyre@earthlink.net.
